Holtzman Vogel Files Amicus Brief on Behalf of 23 State Attorneys General Supporting President Trump in DC Crime Lawsuit

By: Kellen Dwyer

On September 16, 2025, Holtzman Vogel’s premier State Attorneys General practice filed an amicus brief on behalf of West Virginia Attorney General JB McCuskey and South Carolina AG, Alan Wilson, along with 21 other state attorneys general in the District of Columbia’s lawsuit against President Trump. The brief argues that President Trump’s actions to combat crime in D.C. are both lawful and wise, as the crime wave has not only endangered the good residents of D.C. but has also imperiled the operations of our federal government. The brief argues that President Trump has both the statutory authority and the responsibility under Article II to protect our nation’s capital.

The brief was authored by Jason Torchinsky, Brandon Smith, David Johnson, Kellen Dwyer, Mark Pinkert and Valerie Hogancamp.
