Alexander Purpuro

Alexander Purpuro is an associate at Holtzman Vogel whose practice focuses on environmental and land use law and litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Alex served as a trial attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice in the Environment and Natural Resources Division in Washington, D.C.

At the Department of Justice, Alex litigated matters arising under federal environmental statutes, including the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the Toxic Substances Control Act, and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act. He handled motions practice and briefing in federal district and circuit courts and argued matters before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and in federal district court. His work spanned the full arc of federal civil litigation, including drafting pleadings and dispositive motions, dealing with agency record review issues, handling fact and expert discovery and depositions, and conducting settlement negotiations and mediation.

Prior to working at the Justice Department, Alex clerked for Judge Gregory A. Presnell of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
