New York State Senate Elections Committee to Meet and Consider Eleven Bills

By: Joseph T. Burns

The New York State Senate Elections Committee will meet on February 24, 2026, to consider eleven bills.  Among the bills to be taken up by the Senate Elections Committee are:

  • the Count Every Vote Act of New York, a bill that would alter the post-election process for determining when Boards of Elections must conduct a full manual recount in close contests;
  • S559, a proposal that increases the compensation for certain election workers in the City of New York;
  • S569, a bill giving local Boards of Elections the authority to establish countywide polling places;
  • S2437-A, a bill imposing certain disclosure and attribution requirements on campaign social media posts; and
  • S7962, a bill alerting the post-primary deadline for a candidate to decline a party nomination when the candidate loses the primary election of another party.

This is the second meeting of the Senate Elections Committee in 2026.  The Committee previously met on January 12, 2026, to consider what it called the “2026 Elections Integrity Legislative Package.”  All of the proposals were approved by the Committee and each bill in the package was later voted on and approved by the full State Senate.

We will monitor these bills as the 2026 state legislative session progresses and provide updates when appropriate.
