Holtzman Vogel Announces Senior Department of Justice Attorney Abhishek Kambli to Join as Partner
Former Deputy Associate Attorney General Kambli, who argued some of the Trump Administration’s highest profile cases, joins elite national litigation practice
Holtzman Vogel, a nationally recognized law firm specializing in political law, regulatory matters, and high-profile litigation, today announced that Abhishek (Abhi) Kambli will join the firm as a partner in its Washington, D.C. and New York City offices. Kambli’s arrival adds to Holtzman Vogel’s extraordinary team of attorneys who lead in navigating high-stakes appellate and complex litigation, constitutional challenges, and state attorneys general and federal agency matters.
Kambli is among a small group of attorneys nationally who have led complex federal litigation from inside the Department of Justice and coordinated multistate constitutional litigation efforts from a State Attorney General’s office, giving clients a distinctive advantage on government enforcement strategy, regulatory disputes, and constitutional advocacy.
He will join Holtzman Vogel’s State Attorneys General practice, co-chaired by David P. Johnson and Brandon J. Smith, and the Government and Congressional Investigations Practice, co-chaired by Kellen Dwyer and Jonathan Fahey, two of the firm’s largest and most prominent practices, each built on a deep bench of attorneys with distinguished service at the Department of Justice, U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, and state Attorneys General offices across the country.
“Abhi brings a rare experience shaped by service at the highest levels of federal and state government,” said Jill Holtzman Vogel. “His experience working inside the Department of Justice, defending the White House and coordinating constitutional litigation across states, reflects his extraordinary skill and accomplishment.”
Kambli has advised on nationally significant constitutional and regulatory matters throughout his career in federal and state government. At the Department of Justice, he served as Deputy Associate Attorney General where he acted as lead counsel in high-priority litigation matters for the Trump Administration. He also directed civil litigation strategy on behalf of the Associate Attorney General and advised both federal agencies and the White House Counsel’s Office on litigation risk and constitutional issues.
Prior to the DOJ, Kambli served as Deputy Attorney General and Division Chief of the Special Litigation and Constitutional Issues Division at the Kansas Attorney General’s Office, where he launched the division and led multistate coalition litigation in trial and appellate courts nationwide, including matters before the U.S. Supreme Court. Prior to that he was a federal prosecutor in the Southern District of Indiana, where he prosecuted more than one hundred federal cases from investigation through appeal.
“The elite team at Holtzman Vogel is handling consequential matters that shape policy, test constitutional boundaries, and have lasting national impact,” said Kambli. “I am thrilled to join such accomplished litigators who are leading the charge in many of the most significant legal challenges of our time.”
Kambli joins the team with a J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School and his B.F.A. in Writing for Film and Television from the University of the Arts. He also serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General’s Corps.
His addition to the State Attorneys General and Government and Congressional Investigations practices reflects the firm's continued commitment to building the foremost team of attorneys with hands-on government enforcement and constitutional litigation experience.
